GroceryLens for iOS Effective 5 August 2026Elbo International Pty Ltd (ABN 47 633 344 215) — "we", "us", "our"The short versionGroceryLens keeps your data on your own device.We don't operate user accounts. We don't run analytics or tracking. We don't show ads. We don't sell or share your data.Your receipts, items and price history stay on your iPhone — and, if you have iCloud turned on, sync privately through your own Apple iCloud account, which we cannot access.What the app stores, and whereEverything below is created by you and stays with you. We never receive a copy of any of it.Receipt photos you scan — kept so you can view the original later. Stored only on the device that scanned them. Never uploaded to us, and never synced through iCloud.Parsed line items, prices, stores and dates — your spending and price history. On device, and synced through your private iCloud if you have it enabled.Your Usuals and pantry list — the items you buy regularly. On device, and synced through your private iCloud if enabled.App settings, such as a postcode you enter. On device.When iCloud sync is on, your items and lists move between your own devices through Apple's private CloudKit database, tied to your Apple ID. We have no access to that database and cannot read your data.Device features the app usesCamera — only when you scan a receipt. Text is recognised on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition. Receipt images are never uploaded to us.Microphone — only if you use the optional voice feature in Ask. The app requests on-device speech recognition, so your speech is transcribed on the device and the audio isn't sent away for transcription.Reminders — only if you use the shopping list. The app asks your permission, then writes shopping items to its own list, named "Shopping List" by default and changeable by you. It doesn't read or use your other reminders.On-device intelligence — recipe suggestions and answers are generated by Apple's on-device models. The content of your data isn't sent off the device to produce them.You can grant or revoke Camera, Microphone and Reminders access at any time in iOS Settings → GroceryLens.When the app connects to the internetGroceryLens makes only anonymous requests, and only to fetch public reference data. It never uploads your receipts, items, photos, contacts or identity.Grocery price index. The app downloads a small public file of Consumer Price Index figures from data.grocerylens.com.au. There's no account, no cookies, no query parameters and no personal data in the request, and the file is identical for everyone who downloads it. As with any request to any website, the server that serves the file necessarily sees the IP address the request comes from. We mention this because it's inherent to how the web works, not because we use it to identify you.Local specials, if you use that feature. The app works out your state or territory on the device, from a postcode you enter or a state you choose, and then downloads the public specials list for that state. Only your state determines what is requested — your postcode never leaves the device. The request is anonymous, and as above the serving host sees the requesting IP address.We use no analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. We don't build a profile of you, and there's no cross-app or cross-site tracking. Under Apple's definition, the app does not track you.Purchases and subscriptionsPayment is processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your card or payment details.From Apple we receive only the subscription status needed to unlock features — whether a subscription is active, and when it renews or expires.Manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.How long data is kept, and how to delete itYour data lives on your device and in your own iCloud, so you control how long it stays.Receipt images have a retention setting you control. By default, the original image of a scanned receipt is kept on the device for 90 days and then deleted automatically. In the app's settings you can change this to 30 days, one year, keep forever, or Don't store originals, which keeps no images at all. Your parsed items and totals are unaffected either way.You can also:delete individual receipts or items inside the app
delete the app to remove its on-device data
turn off iCloud for GroceryLens, or delete the app's iCloud data, in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account StorageWe hold no separate copy on our own servers, so there is nothing for us to delete at our end.Sharing and overseas disclosureWe do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.The only third party involved in normal use is Apple, which provides iCloud storage and sync and App Store billing under Apple's own privacy policy. Apple may store data on servers outside Australia. We do not otherwise disclose your information overseas.ChildrenGroceryLens is a general-audience budgeting tool. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.Your rightsThis app is provided to users in Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.Because we don't collect your receipt data centrally, access and correction happen directly in the app. For any privacy request or complaint, contact us at the address below.
